| Mission: |
All
are called to follow Christ (C.C.C.1694), to Holiness
(C.C.C. 825), and to the unity of the Catholic Church
(C.C.C. 836 -838); The Department for Vocation re-echoes
this call and encourages and facilitates people's response.
Within the unity of the Church's mission this Department
supports three particular responses made possible by
God's grace: the sacrament of Holy Orders, the sacrament
of Marriage and the Consecrated Life (C.C.C. 871-873). |

Office
for Marriage
and the Family
|
|
|
|
|
|
Drawing
on Familiaris Consortio this office recognises the family
as the basic cell of society. It is a communion of persons
called to serve life, and to participate in the development
of society as a believing and evangelising community.
Amongst its tasks this office will help priests in parishes
to counsel and direct families, it will develop associations
of the faithful dedicated to the family and it will
directly support families who must live in the midst
of a culture where customs and conception of life work
contrary to the Gospel. It will ensure that the Diocese
keeps the family at the centre of Evangelisation. |

Social
Work Service
|
|
|
|
Many families face difficulties and problems at one
time or another. Some problems will be handled by
the individual often with the help of relatives and
friends. However, sometimes it is beneficial to seek
help from elsewhere outside the family.
|
| |
|
| |
The
Catholic Childrens' Rescue Society have a team of experienced
and qualified social workers who may be able to offer
support through difficulties. e.g.
- Personal relationship problems
- Separation / divorce
- Children with home/school problems
- Family breakdown
- Bereavement
Families may approach CCRS directly or they accept referrals
from schools, parishes and other agencies. Visits will
take place at home, or at a mutually convenient place
by arrangement.

Office
for
Priestly Vocations
|
|
| |
|
|
|
The
unique participation, of those who have received Holy
Orders, in the Priesthood of Christ ennobles the priestly
character of all baptised Christians. Configured to
Christ in the service of the Christian community the
priest is at the heart of the Church's self understanding
(c.f. Pastores Dabo Vobis; 12.4 & 23.2). This office
undertakes the encouragement and support of all who
have received this vocation. |
