More
than 350 people gathered in Manchester on Saturday 9th April for
the Northern 'Motiv8 4 G8' conference. The conference was designed
to raise awareness and inform people about the Make Poverty History
Campaign.
Also to motivate people to travel to the:-
Make Poverty
History
Rally,
Edinburgh, 2nd July
ahead of the G8 meeting,
Gleneagles (6th-8th July).
At
the Motiv8 4 G8 conference a kilted piper led participants into
the main hall of New Century House to be seated around cabaret-style
tables.

"
as human beings
we have the understanding and potential
to make things better."
The conference was opened by TV star
Tony
Robinson who called participants to take action against global
poverty.

Conference
participants enjoyed a day packed with information and activities
on trade, debt and aid as well as updates on plans and travel arrangements
for the Edinburgh rally.
There was a great atmosphere as participants and speakers shared
ideas and information. One highlight of the day was the Trade Justice
Rappers who performed a brilliant rap about Make Poverty History!
The day ended with participants marching into Manchester town centre
to collect Vote for Trade Justice postcards.
