Report: Family Forum Meeting - Thursday 18th March

The meeting of the Diocesan Family Forum held at St. Antony's Centre on Thursday 18th March considered the progress with the Listening 2004 initiative in the Diocese. The Bishop had launched the process on March 6th following his Pastoral Letter sent to all parishes.

At a special service 35 Deanery coordinators were Commissioned to go out on behalf of the Diocese to promote and develop the Listening 2004 family conversations. Bishop Terence Brain underlined the importance of family life and the need to listen carefully to the needs of families. He thanked the coordinators for the task they were to undertake within the Diocese on his behalf, asking them to go forth and listen !

Representatives from family groups and organisations welcomed the production of Family Forum Briefings on Marriage and Family Life produced in March.

The latest briefings are:
(a) The Catholic Bishops Conference statement in America on Marriage and the Family, and
(b) Cardinal Cormac Murphy O'Connor talk; Culture, Christianity & Human Flourishing.

Parenting Skills - Sister Monica from Bolton shared with the Family Forum the fact that she had taken a stall at the Bolton International Women's day event to help promote the Family Caring Trust Parenting Materials. Sister Monica has may years of experience running and organising the Parenting Programmes. She values the Family Caring trust material very highly. If you would like further information on Parenting Skills than let us know and we will put you in touch.

Do you have news, events or stories to share ? If you have please send them to us we will do our best to make them better known in the Diocese through the web pages on family life and our forthcoming newsletter.

The next Salford Diocesan Family Forum will be held on May 27th at St. Antony's Centre commencing 7.30 p.m. all interested parties welcome.
