  The Commission is responsible for ensuring that children and vulnerable adults
are "Safe in Our Care" in the Salford Diocese.
   
 
Tasks of the Commission include:
 
To enquire into any allegation of or concern for inappropriate behaviour or actual abuse of children, young persons, or vunerable adults by any person working for the Diocese either paid or voluntary, and to liaise with the statutory authorities.
 
To advise the Bishop on safeguarding issues.
 
To ensure that clergy and volunteers are made aware of the agreed diocesan procedures 'Safe in Our Care' and that they are implemented in each parish.
 
To ensure that there is appropriate pastoral care and support for victims and those against whom allegations have been made.

1st July 2008 Catholic Safeguarding Advisory Service (CSAS)

Following the acceptance of the Cumberlege Review recommendations and the Cumberlege Implementation Group report, by the Conference of Bishops and Conference of Religious in April, the National Safeguarding organization changes on July 1st 2008.

On the 1st July 2008, the Catholic Safeguarding Advisory Service (CSAS) comes into being. The service can still be accessed using the address, telephone number or website of the former COPCA. These are:
